At last nights (10th
July 2008) Pembroke Dock Town Council meeting the Mayor
Councillor Ron Watts accepted on behalf of Pater Hall Trust and
the Town Council a model of a Sunderland Flying Boat from Dot
and Graham Roberts of Pembroke Dock
The Sunderland was
presented to the Town by Mr and Mrs Roberts who explained "My
late brother Brian was very interested in collecting different
items & amongst his collection we found this model of a
Sunderland flying boat, what to do with it was a bit of a
problem, but after having a word with my other brother Roy who
lives in Canada (both my brothers by the way did their time in
the Royal Air Force, me I went into the Army) we decided to
present it to the Pater Hall Trust and Pembroke Dock Town
Council, who we felt might be interested, after all, as we know
PD was one of the largest Sunderland flying boat stations in the
world (if not the largest) Having spoken to our Mayor Councillor
Ron Watts and Town Clerk Ian Jones both said they would be
pleased and honoured to accept the model and agreed they could
find an appropriate place to display it in the Pater Hall’s
refurbished Sunderland Suite. So therefore on behalf of our
family Dot and I were pleased to present this model to the Town
of Pembroke Dock for safe keeping." |
