Lord Nelson's visit to Pembroke Dock
Previous <>

June 30th saw the visit of Lord Nelson to our town. In his party were Sir William and Lady Hamilton, Sir Charles Granville was already singing the praises of Lord Nelson, they were met by our town Mayor Councillor Ron Watts, the year 1805, Nelson needed more men for the Royal Navy and was touring the nation for willing (or not so willing) recruits for his ships as a battle was pending, the outcome of which would be vital for the safety of our nation. They were welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd on Front Street.
